WHELPLEY I am trying to find the parents of Prudence Whelpley. Prudence Whelpley was born (1820 to 1821) in Warrensville, Ohio but she moved with her family to Ashtabula county when she was young. Her father was killed while clearing land, probably in the 1820s or 1830s. Her mother died of cancer probably after her dad died, no date given. Prudence married Danford Smith in 1842 but we have no record of her parents names. Perhaps they owned property in Ashtabula county at sometime and from those records maybe we could find her father’s first name. Prudence’s parents may be buried in one of Ashtabula’s cemeteries. I believe there are records of Whelpleys in Ashtabula county and perhaps there is a relationship there? I have tried with, and am a member of Ancestry.com, but can’t find a connection to Prudence yet. Don Brichford  donaldbrichford@comcast.net 801-633-8763 (Utah number) April 2010

I have found a Wisconsin census from 1850 to show that Caroline and Sylvanus were indeed the parents of Cynthia, Zenus?, and Warren Woodworth. Many trees uploaded online include Electa and Dorothy as their children as well, but I have not been able to find any sources for this information. Anyone have help or a suggestion on how to get it? FOWLER  WATTS HELP!! Pls~ Union Co. NC I am trying to find info on or where DELLA FOWLER McCorkle is. Della Fowler is my G-G-Grand Mother. Della and Mack McCorkle are the parents of Lydia McCorkle b.Oct 24 1885 as well as Henry Arthur McCorkle b. June 27 1888.  However, Mack McCorkle later married Mattie King. I know this because of the 1900 Census for Union Co. NC  This census does list Lydia and says she was 14, it also lists Author (probably spelled wrong) I am guessing Della Fowler possibly had met her demise giving birth, earlier on with Mack and then after that loss, he went with and married Mattie. As he (Mack)and Mattie are buried together in the Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Co. NC - Mack's daughter Lydia (my G-Grand Mother), is also buried there with (my G-Grand Pa) Wylie Jefferson Watts aka. Jeff Watts. I have tried to contact Fowler families from many different posts and whatnots to see if anyone knew/knows anything, but to no avail. This was a very long time ago all these things took place, and I am sure if in fact she had met her demise, that is wasn't talked about all that much. There is a book (I can not afford this book right now) called "A History of the Fowler Families of the South, Embracing Descendants of John Fowler". This book (on pg# 135)lists some of Della Fowler's other sisters and brothers as well as lists her married to Mack McCorkle. Some of her siblings names are Mattie, Emma, Clifford (which was a sheriff in Union Co. NC for 14 years), and a brother from another mother, Braxton. I really need help, don't know where else to search. Is she in a Fowler Cemetery? Anyone have a clue??!!Felicia

FITZSIMMONS ZLOTY I am looking for the family of Marguerite M. (Zloty) Fitzsimmons who passed away in Ashtabula on August 8, 1992. I am trying to trace my father's paternal family, some of whom lived in the Cleveland area around 1940. I was told my father's name, Gould, came from Gold and Zloty and they were Polish. My grandfather (born in Punxsutawney, PA, 1903) was killed in a plane crash in 1940 and after that my father became estranged or cut off from his paternal family. The census reports for Punxsutawney (1900, 1910, 1920) and Ohio (1930) lead me to think that Marguerite Fitzsimmons was the daughter of Michael Zloty (died in Cleveland in 1959) who might be my great-grandfather. JONES Looking to find any information on the family of William Jones, wife Thriza, son, Jesse, step son, Willie Davis. They are listed in the 1900 census. Its believed that Thirza and possibly two others, James and Margarett Osborn were in an accident that took their lives between 1900 and 1910. In the 1910 census, William is widowed and there is a family story that says James and Margarett's daughter, Katherine Osborn (Jonas) would never drive a car as she was involved in a tragic car wreck that killed someone...could it be the three persons above ?? James Osborn was a chemist and is listed in the 1900 census for Philadelphia, Pa with his wife Margaret's and two daughters, Katherine and Onionta. In 1910 Katherine and Onionta are listed as living with William Jones as his great neice's. No where can Thirza or James and Margatett be found. Its believed that they were killed. the Jones family is always listed in the Ashtabula Ohio area. Kaye Jonas

SLOAN Hello, my Finnish great-grandmother worked in Ashtabula's woolen mills during the early 1900s. She was the eldest of 14 children and worked in the mills to help support her family. I am interested in knowing what kind of work she might have done in the woolen mills, how long her work day might have been and how much she might have gotten paid. I would also like to see a photo of the woolen mills, if any exist, and know where they were located. Her family lived in Ashtabula Harbor. I am not sure how old she was when she worked in the mills, but she was married by 1916. She was born in 1892, and the family moved away from Ashtabula Harbor into the Andover and Williamsfield areas prior to her marriage in 1916. Before the family relocated to Andover, my great-grandmother also worked in Ashtabula Harbor's Finnish steam baths giving massages. I am also curious about this work -- how much it paid, how long her work day was etc. etc.

ZEILE DITTERS BECK SCHWEIKART EGER Trying to establish the connection of the ZEILE family and the DITTERS, DIDLER, DIETER and the BECK, SCHWEIKART and EGER families of Ashtabula.  First of all, Gotthilf ZEILE was the executor of the will of a Valentine DITTLER.  George David ZEILE, Gotthilf's brother married an Anna Maria  DITTERS( born in Wuerttemburg, Germany  in 1827) in 1855.  In the grave yard, along with the ZEILE graves is a tombstone for Gottlob BECK.  From what I understand Valentine DITTLER married a Mary BECK. Does anyone have any connection with these families.  I am sure Valentine DITTLER and my Anna Maria DITTERS were related in some way? Perhaps siblings. FORD LOVERIDGE WILLIAMS ATWATER
Seeking information regarding the family of William B. FORD who was born in Maine about 1800 and died in Plymouth, Ashtabula, Ohio 25 Mar 1872.  His widow Caroline, and other "heirs" deeded property to Benj. LOVERIDGE in 1874.  These people include Julia (Juliett FORD)  WILLIAMS, wife of Joel WILLIAMS; Caroline (FORD) ATWATER, whom I believe to be William's daughter, and the widow of Sylvester ATWATER who died a few months previously in 1873; and my g g grandparents, Eli FORD and his wife Adelia.  I believe Eli was William's  nephew; according to Eli's death record his father's name was Robert, but I can't find him anywhere.  In 1870, Eli and Adelia were living with William  and Caroline FORD, as was Joel and Julia Williams (just who is she?)  I've also found a marriage record for a Mary Ann FORD and George  LOVERIDGE, but I don't know how they might be connected.  The 1850 census of Onondaga Co., NY lists Wm. and Caroline with children Maryann,  Susan, Jacob, Ira, Simeon, Caroline, and James, but I can find no trace of these children otherwise, except for Caroline.  Jacquie  BURT, 6583 S. GILBERT DICK Seeking information regarding two images found in an old book. One is an original drawing done by F. M. Gilbert on April 12, 1878 of the residence of M. G. Dick of Division St., Ashtabula, Ohio. The other a print made from this drawing. These are large format pieces measuring approximately 10" x 12" and are in excellent condition. The original drawing of the house has the following words written in pencil on the lower margin: "page 191 of History". The reverse says (also in pencil): "April 12, 1878 The within sketch made by F. M. Gilbert is satisfactory....M. G. Dick" (signature) I am trying to find out if this residence is still in existence and what the original/current  address might be as well as who owns it now. I feel that, if the house still stands, then the current owner might want these historical reference items. If the house is gone, then, perhaps, someone in Ashtabula might want  them for their historical value.  Mark Rotenberg 908-995-4595(NJ) marklee@eclipse.net June 2003
